On the True Nature of Metis Doxy, Silent Strider-Homid-Ragabash There are three breeds of Garou, as we are aware. There are the children of the Wilderness, or the Wyld--The Lupus breed, born as wolves, raised as wolves. There are the children of the city, of humanity. Or the Weaver--The Homid breed, born as humans, raised as humans. Then there is the third breed. They are born Garou, and raised Garou. But, rarely are they treated as equals by the other Garou. These are the Metis. Children of the Wyrm? There is a breed of Bete, known as Kitsune, whose metis are not disfigured from birth onward. Also, they serve the Balance Wyrm, uncorrupted. Look at the correlations: The Wyld is dying, as are the Lupus. The Weaver is growing, as is the Homid population among the Garou. The Wyrm is insane and deformed wherever it appears. As are the Metis. I am not saying that Metis are servants of the Wyrm--they serve Gaia, as do the rest of us. What I am saying is that they might hold the knowledge, the wisdom, the power we might need to cure the wyrm of its imbalance. This correlation between the breeds and the faces of the Triat is simply a logical extension of the rest of our lives. Remember that in its purest form, the Wyrm serves as important a function as the Weaver and the Wyld. We cannot hope to annihilate it. We can only hope to limit its influence, and possibly cure it. This won't happen if we continue to mis-treat our Metis. They are just as important as the Homids and the Lupus, else they wouldn't exist. Certainly, they come into being as a direct result of a violation of the Litany, but I propose that the law, "Garou shall not mate with Garou," was a later addition, after the Wyrm's corruption made such coupling a risky thing. Rather than cast out our Metis, I propose we try to heal them of this affliction, and heal the Wyrm of its.
