Alternate Umbra by Dennis Payne Every tribe has their own explanation of the umbra. I don't know which view is right, but I've seen too many things in the cyberrealm and the "traditional" Umbra to believe the tales told by the elders. The Umbra is more than what they believe. Think of a number line with the universe at zero. Negative infinity is the realm of the Wyld. Positive infinity is the Weaver's domain. The "traditional" Umbra, or astralspace, resides at minus one and the cyberrealm at one. Garou have the ability to travel along this line but not without help. The distortion effects of a mirror weakens the barrier between Gaia's realm and astralspace. Cyberspace maintains a connection with computers but only the Glass Walkers open themselves to this technology. Other Garou foolishly believe astralspace is the way to Gaia they do not realize that they are only pushing themselves away from Gaia. - Electronic-Terror, Glass Walker Galliard Astralspace Astralspace resembles the natural world, however, everything is more vibrant. Colors are brighter and contrast sharper. People's features are altered according to their true nature. Highly technical and organized people appear faded as they lose touch with the Wyld. Spirits of the Weaver are found here but in extremely low numbers. Cities appear as large desolate areas even the Glade Children from parks are faded in color. Cyberspace Cyberspace has remained relatively barren compared to astralspace. Only recently have spirits coalesced from the spiritual energies. The realm has expanded enormously fast however and shows no sign of slowing. Interesting enough humans seem able to manipulate the energies of cyberspace much more easily than astralspace. Highly technical and organized people appear faded in color similar to astralspace, however other humans don't appear at all. Here the wilderness are desolate regions not the cities. Area Typical Gauntlet Deep wilderness 9 Rural countryside 8 Most places 7 Inner city 6 Science lab 5 Typical active caern 4 Powerful caern 3 The greatest caerns 2 Wyrm The Wyrm has invaded all realms. Banes are as likely to be found in cyberspace as astralspace. Vampires appear both in astralspace and cyberspace with a faded image although Wyrm taint may intensify the image. Black Spiral Dancers are accustom to travel in both spaces. The Wyrm destroys all.
