From: Mike Canus views on the Tribes: Black Furies: Opened the door for once without thinking. She almost tore off my arm. They feel the love of the mother, and return it, but only to other women. If they could learn to love everyone, they could heal so many problems. Bone Gnawers: Some of our best friends, and a tribe we often masquerade as. These are the true nobility of the Garou, Princes among the Paupers. We are partners in their Barking Chain, which helps us both to keep informed and better protect our charges. Children Of Gaia: They show great success at balancing the love of their mother and the Rage of their father. They also helped us greatly in our time of need, but most have forgotten us in the modern age. Fianna: Fun folks, but also given to violent drunken rages and great depressions. If only they could find peace in their homeland, these gifted bards and poets could create much beauty. Get Of Fenris: When I meet them I remind myself that I like everybody. And then I do it again. And again. And again. But you can only push someone so far. These Garou are in many way the epitome of their race, in all it's glory and shame. Glass Walkers: we share many of the same habitat, but almost never interact. They seek power and control, and I suspect they want to control the humans like the Vampires. However, they are bettter than some of they others. Do not fear them overmuch, but do not trust them. Red Talons: Grrrr... I respect nature, but if they attack my kin or my friends, their deaths will be merciless and quick. They cannot conquer the Rage in their hearts and blame the humans, instead of the true cause: themselves. Shadow Lords: Manipulative bastards. Grandfather Thunder, indeed...perhaps in a way they are a bit more honest with themselves than other Garou. You couldn't tell this from their dealing with others however. Silent Striders: Mysterious. I trust them, although I don't know why. Perhaps it's because of their utter lack of involvement in the Impergium. I doubt they had noble reasons for this however. Silver Fangs: They wanted us dead. They are mad. Gaia gave them command, and I do not doubt her wisdom, but... Stargazers: wise and introspective, they helped to end the Impergium. If only the could enjoy life more, and roll in the grass instead of locking themselves up with books. Uktena: You mean those that frolic with The Wyrm? Pure Ones indeed. Wendigo: Angry, but true, they protect their people well, and could be our allies under other circumstances. Nuwisha: They are some of our best friends and hunted by the Garou almost as much as we were. They know how to laugh, but have alot to learn about bein serious. Gurahl: Our co-workers in healing. The Gurahl focus on natura, and we focus on Man. There are not many left, and some are our friends and others resent us for our defense of humanity. Do not fight them, even when they call us enemy. They are too important to be hurt. Corax: Our fellow Children Of Helios. They have largely forgotten us, but our common bonds can be seen when dogs chase them through fields in games only the oldest of us can remember. Bastet: Does the phrase fighting like cats and dogs mean anything to you? They see humanity and everything else as toys for their amusement. Don't feel too guilty if the need to fight arises. Ratkin: Friends of the Gnawers, we maintain a barely civil relationship for their sake. The diseases they spread to humans are apalling, but we must get along. Mokole: Our Brothers and sisters! we have had problems in the past... we share a father and mother and yet we cannot see eye to eye. Protect them and love them, but remember they are deep within the spirit of Gaia and times past and often have little tolerance for man. Rokea: Whatever, Jaws on two legs...next you'll tell me theirs Were-Spiders Ananasi: Hah, hah, you're joking, right? Vampires: They seek to increase the size of mankind and civilization, so they should be our friends, right? Don't make me laugh, they seek to control everything and suck the life out of it. The sun causes them great pain, and we are it's Children. Use that to your advantage whenever necessary. Mages: While they are humans, they are deeply flawed. we are obliged to protect them, and I believe that includes protecting them from themselves. They all serve someone, believing they serve mankind, or if more honest themselves, but instead end up in servitude to the Weaver, The wyld, or The Wyrm. Wraiths: Lost to the Sunlit Lands we must try to offer them comfort and release when they appear, and protect the mortals they may attempt to hurt. Changelings: Full of joy, but wrapped in sick, self-serving games, that almost inevitably end in pain or loss. Dark dreamers, children playing at being adults, playing at being gods. Beware, some are our friends, other our worst foes. Merits and Flaws addendum: Berserker, Hatred, Intolerance, Short Fuse, Veangeance, Mark Of The Predator, Moon Bound, Silver Tolerance, Pierced Veil, Sign Of The Wolf and various aspects of the planet Mars are pretty inappropriate for most Canus characters, except for Moon Doggies. However Soft Hearted, Naive(from CoG tribebook), Pitiable (poor doggy), True Love, Weak Willed, and some of the aspects of Venus are stereotypical of the race. Joyous ( 3 pt. Merit) The Canus is immune to all attempts to magically or otherwise induce depression, Harano, etc.Resisting strong powers (i.e. powerful Mages, Old Vampires, High Rank Werewolves) may require the expenditure of willpower points. Dog Breath ( 1 point flaw) The Canus has extremely bad breath in all forms resulting in a loss of one die on all social rolls in close situations. Persistant Fleas( 3 point flaw) The Canus has a bad case of fleas which can't be removed with flea baths, naturl cures or any other magic or scientific cures; could they be Were-Fleas? The constant itching caused by them subtract one point from all physical die pools, and also reduce social rolls by one as watching fleas jump on a person is largely regarded as unattractive. New Gift: Doggy Kisses (Level One) Although many humans may profess to hating dog slobber, almost everyone enjoys doggy kisses. A Canus can reproduce this effect, by kissing or licking someone sloppily. [Canus spends point of Gnosis and rolls App+Emp versus difficulty of the kissed willpower. Wether successful or unsuccessful the Canus loses one dies from social rolls the first round after as the individual wipes off the slobber, but then gains one for a number of rounds equal to successes.] Rites: Return The Sun (Level Five Mystical Gift) A Canus can return a willing Vampire to life through a complex process involving a near suicidal risk on the Vampire's part. The rite begins at dawn as both Canus and Vampire stand together to watch the sun rise. As it begins to peek above the horizon, the Canus slips into the Umbra to bargain with the spirit of Helios (Hyperion?) for the Vampire's fate. The Vampire must not frenzy and run away and wait as it's body bursts into flame. If the Canus is successful, the Vampire will awaken to find itself whole and human. If the rite is a failure... [The Canus has as many rounds as the Vampire can remain alive to argue the Vampire's case to the spirits of the sun, roll Cha+Expression against a difficulty of 7+(10-Humanity). 25-Humanity successes are required for the rite to be a success. The Vampire will be returned to mortality, and generally loses all Vampiric disciplines and powers.] Fetishes: Dog House [Level 3, Gnosis 7] This fetish is a small carved representation of the traditional dog's house, some of the more modern one's including Snoopy and Woodstock on top. When the fetish is activated a small, secure pocket realm is created in the Umbra in the shape of the dog house allowing safety and protection for 1-3 individuals depending on size. Dog Whistle [Level Two Gnosis 6] This fetish is a small, shiny whistle that makes no noise audible to the human ear, but when activated will summon all dogs and Children Of The Sun within a radius determined by successes. Bane Fetish: Dog Collar [Level Three Gnosis 6] Mass produced by Pentex as part of their HappyPet! line, these collars come in many speciality styles and themes (Pretty Poodle! ToughMutt! BasicBlackLab! etc.) but all serve the same purpose: to break the dog's spirit and facilitate rabid and other bane possession. [Each success on activation roll drains one willpower from any aimal caught in collar. Collars also call out to all banes in area, and are impossible to remove by one's self.] These collars are rapidly becoming fashionable in the bondage and s&m communities and Pentex is creating larger sizes to meet demand and spread evil to new, perfect audiences.
