World of Future Darkness Errata, Addenda, and what-have-you by Deirdre Brooks When I sent the manuscript to White Wolf, I left a few mistakes in the text. In addition to that, White Wolf altered a couple of things in the article and this created a few more errors. So . . . Part 1 - WW #36, pg 15 ---------------------- The letter that is credited to Margali, 4th Generation Ravnos should read 5th Generation Ravnos. See Part 2 for more information. Pg 18 - Other Groups, Magi -------------------------- This should be split into two separate entries; Traditions and Conventions. Traditions: The Mages feel that they are losing more ground every day. As more and more people buy the cybernetic implants of Iteration X, or make use of the drugs of the Progenitors, or even work for the corporations of the Syndicate the Traditions feel more and more of reality slipping away from them. The Virtual Adepts, however, are doing quite well. With the advent of Netrunning, more and more people are accepting their paradigm to a certain extent. They hope to have nearly everyone hooked into "virtuality" within ten years. There are rumors of an inter-Tradition project to bring about a massive change in society fairly soon. There also seems to be some evidence of infiltration into Iteration X by the Virtual Adepts. The project seems to originate from within the Sons of Ether. The Verbena, the Dreamspeakers, and the Celestial Chorus seem to be the worst off of all of the Traditions. They were the most anti-technology Tradition, and the further raping of Gaia, the continual alienation of humans from each other, and the lack of respect for life has caused these Traditions much grief. The Conventions: This world is very nearly paradise for most of the Conventions. Iteration X has achieved several of their goals - cybernetic implants, AIs, high technology everywhere. The New World Order is pushing the culture into Technoshock, wherein the Sleepers are not capable of handling the rapid advances in technology. The Progenitors are flooding the world with many things - genegineered life forms, clones, diseases, drugs, and all of them are ultimately useful for the Conventions and harmful to the sleepers. The Void Engineers are using the Crystal Palace as their primary Construct. In the Realm, it is a large battle station. A good percentage of the Void Engineers have defected to the Traditions, or simply vanished into Faerie. The Syndicate; organized crime and major corporations are everywhere. And they control a good deal. The Syndicate is certainly feeling its oats in these troubled times. Also add: Pentex: Pentex is bigger and meaner than ever before. They have several corporations set up to handle waste disposal for most of the other megacorps on the planet. They're also providing cybernetics with banes bound into them to give some direction as well as speed the descent into cyberpsychosis. Some of the nastier street drugs are also provided by subsidiaries of theirs. Pg 19, Technica --------------- Level 2 (Technical Touch) This level allows interface with any machine that has a means of interfacing - you can use a computer with a keyboard, or a radio with knobs and switches and dials. What use is this? Touch a car, any car. You can turn it on or off, hit the brakes or what-have-you. Level 3 (Empower Device) Use of this ability requires 1 _Blood_ Point, not 1 _Willpower_ Point. Pg 20, Cyberware ---------------- Where it says "If a Garou has cyberware (Luna knows why; it would prevent the change), use Gnosis instead." Add this sentence: "The level 1 Werewolf Ritual Rite of Talisman Dedication can be used to bind the cybernetics to the Garou so they may change along with him." Also, normal cyberware is _not_ the same as the Technofetishes described in Umbra: The Velvet Shadow. This question came up on the list: What do Mages lose when they add cyberware? If you absolutely _have_ to, subtract 1 from the maximum Quintessence for every five points of Humanity Index taken by cybernetics. Why doesn't this affect Iteration X? Assume that Iteration X has several levels of quality available, and any cyberware they have installed in themselves will not take any humanity index. There is a precedent for this; the Progenitors have two types of clones they use - one for themselves and one for everyone else. Pg 20, Cyberware in Kindred Bodies ---------------------------------- Some people have expressed the opinion that Kindred can't use cyberware, and to be sure, I don't really disagree. Treat this section as optional. When Embracing a mortal with cyberware, a Kindred can choose to use extra blood to heal the cyber out of the body. A suggested rate is one Blood Point per Humanity point lost. As for the Magi version of the _Awakening the Flesh_ Ritual, it would be the following: Awakening the Flesh (Forces ***, Matter *****, Prime **) This Rote will transform the Kindred's body into a slightly conductive material that will provide enough electricity to run the cybernetics that were implanted. Needless to say, 5 successes are necessary to make it permanent. The electricity is produced within the Kindred's body and runs along specially defined paths as set up by the Mage. It doesn't provide any extra power for other uses, nor does it provide extra resistance to electrical attacks. It also reshapes the body permanently so that it won't heal the cybernetics out. It isn't clear as to whether Iteration X or the Sons of Ether first used this one, but both groups use it. Pg 21, Disciplines and Cyberware -------------------------------- Vicissitudes: This will alter the flesh and bone, but not any cybernetics. At level 4, treat like Protean 4, and at level 5, it will turn cybernetics into Blood. Pg 24, Body Plating ------------------- Each piece of Body Plating adds +5 Soak dice _for the area covered_. 3 Extra DP are provided _for the area covered_. Part II, White Wolf #37, Character Pictures ------------------------------------------- Carlo Giovanni isn't fat, Jeremiah DuBois is black, and David Taliaferro isn't a redneck. :) Pp 56-57, Margali the Wanderer ------------------------------ X-Topic-No: 4 In my original writeup, Margali was a 4th Generation. White Wolf made her a Fifth when they edited it, but did not edit her Progeny (in part 3) or her letter (in part 1). Use her as 4th or 5th. And yes, she really is supposed to have all those Disciplines. She is actually older than Menele. Under Talents, change Music: 5 to Singing: 5. Obfuscate 6 allows her to make her aura rose in color rather than conceal her "Ravnos Aura." That is a first edition reference to the old Ravnos weakness. Margali does lie - about her age, clan and name, but nothing else. At least, not by commission. Only by omission. Part III, White Wolf #38, Sin's name ------------------------------------ For some reason I switched Sin's name to Cyn in this article. Nothing major. Pp22-23, Margali's Progeny -------------------------- As alluded to in the Part II errata, the Generations are weird. Nothing else major.
