3. The Kindred Clans of the Camarilla =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The Camarilla, established dominance over the kindred in Toronto in 1829. The Camarilla is Toronto is ruled by Prince Gregori Tolvanov, a Toreador. The roster of clans in the Camarilla does occasionally change, allowing some of the non-camarilla clans to join up, if they wish. However, Gregori allows only nine voting positions. Therefore, if a non-camarilla bloodline joins up to the Toronto Camarilla, they will probably not get a voting seat on the Primogen. The Prince does retain veto privileges over any vote the Camarilla casts, but he has not used this privilege in over a century. 3.1 The Primogen ================ The Toronto Primogen meets once monthly, in the Prince's mansion. They meet in chambers designed specifically for the primogen's meeting. No other kindred are allowed to be present except those acting as elders, voting or not, of the clans or bloodlines. The only exception to this rule is the ongoing presence of the Prince's personal secretary, a Ghoul named Clarissa Rotchet. Hermetic 1 1 ? 3.2 The Prince, the primogen, and the Clans of the Camarilla 3.2.1 The Prince Gregori - Toreador, Prince of Toronto. VIsionary/Architect. Once a blacksmith artist, now prince of Toronto. Little is truly known about Gregori. His self-control and acting are impressive. Social attributes are dominant, has not been observed in combat, though musculature suggests he can hold his own. His main discipline appears to be presence beyond normal abilities. He has ruled well for over a century. 3.2.2 The Brujah Elder Anna Calanovich - Brujah Elder (primogen). embraced 1760. Director/Fanatic. High physical attributes. Excels at combat. quick to anger, but quick to release. Little self-control. Excellent abilities with firearms and knives. disciplines recognized: celerity, protean, probably high level of potence. Was involved in romantic triangle between former ventrue elder Johnathon Edwards and his son/childe, Stephen Edwards, Situation started before her embrace. 3.2.2.1 The Brujah Clan The Brujah clan has been involved with the Toronto Camarilla (TC) since shortly after its inception in 1829. It's elder, Anna Calanovich is a ruthless, short-tempered fireball. Although the Brujah in Toronto are fairly tame, they do run a number of extortion rings and prostitution circles within the city. Anna has a number of her Brujah constantly on the look-out for Sabbat influences. They are the most outwardly noticeable front the Camarilla has against the Sabbat. The Brujah have the most amount of influence among the Toronto Fire Department. 3.2.3 The Gangrel Elder Tam Lin Soong - Gangrel elder (Primogen). Director/Judge Tam Lin is a elegant, graceful man; this does little to hide his malevolent harshness. Physical dominant, he nonetheless shows an unusually high intelligence (at least for Gangrel). Likely skills include acting and subterfuge. He is a politician through and through. clandestinely believed to be responsible for former gangrel elder's exile. He has the permission of the prince to create two childer to up the ranks of the gangrel in toronto. Tensions between he and the prince have been escalating for some time. Some have suggested that Tam Lin is not a Gangrel, but a Ravnos masquerading as gangrel. His Haven is unknown--suggesting earth meld ability. his relation to the former temple of Set also bears examination. 3.2.3.1 The Gangrel Clan The Gangrel was once the main liaison with the Garou, but have recently broken off most contact. Their new elder, an ancient wanderer from the southern States who calls himself Tam Lin Soong, rules the Gangrel with an almost iron fist. He is unaware that the former Gangrel elder, Angus McDiarmuid is fermenting a civil war within the ranks of the Gangrel. Obviously, their strongest areas of political influence remain within the Toronto department of Parks and Recreation. The Gangrel meet irregularly in High Park--usually at the new moon. 3.2.4 The Malkavian Elder Sebastian - Malkavian Elder (primogen). believed to be 6th generation Malkavian. In third stage of malkavian development. (fool, madman, lunatic, fool). Likely one of the best sources of trivia and information in Toronto--if you can understand his twisted ramblings. Disciplines suggest obfuscate, high auspex, possibly celerity. Also seems to be able to teleport. Must examine more closely. Wonder what the cost if it is? Excellent investigator, high acting, impeccable mental attributes, when functioning lucidly. Sebastian has a knack of being in the right place to observe things. Does he ever get directly involved? 3.2.4.1 The Malkavian Clan The Malkavians really didn't become a part of the TC until shortly after the second world war. Then a charismatic mad who bore an uncanny resemblance to Mark Twain asked to take his seat. Sebastian has remained a part of Toronto politics ever since. He is one of the kindred's "information mongers". His information is almost as helpful as the Nosferatu's, if you can make sense of it. Gregori believes that the Malkavians have the tightest hold over the police department The Malkavians in Toronto have never held a formal or regular meeting of the clan--although none of the Malkavians have ever spoken out over any of Sebastian's actions or votes. 3.2.5 The Nosferatu Elder Amber - Nosferatu Elder (primogen) Architect/Caregiver, embraced 1520, noticeably tight-lipped about her mortal life. Mental dominant, with politics and occult speciailities. High Obfuscate, Animalism and Potence. Believed to be 6th gen. Nosferatu element of Toronto Primogen. An air of reassurance about her--its like she's the "mom" of the dispossessed and the shunned. She's almost too normal to be a nosferatu. If she wasn't pregnant. Apparently, rumour has it that she's got a third lobe to her brain... but have been so far unable to confirm... 3.2.5.1 The Nosferatu Clan The Nosferatu were always present in Toronto, but did not formally take an active part of the politics in Toronto until roughly 1920, when a new Nosferatu elder presented herself. As an immigrant, it took some time for Amber to gain acceptance, among the Toronto kindred, but since her inception, the Toronto Nosferatu have developed one of the most advanced computer and artificial intelligence systems with an eye towards information gathering, threat analysis both to the Masquerade, and the non-aggression pact, and conspiracy theories. The Nosferatu have, obviously, the greatest amount of influence over the Department of Public Works. 3.2.6 The Toreador Elder Justine de Coeur - Toreador Elder (Primogen). Believed to be 7th generation, embraced early 1800's. High stamina, excellent musical abilities. Drop-dead beautiful--obviously a toreador. disciplines suggest celerity, and presence. Traditionalist/curmudgeon? her actions in the last 10 years have been extremely hidden. 3.2.6.1 The Toreador Clan The Toreador have been in Toronto since the inception of the Camarilla. The Toreador clan is led by Justine De Couer, a somewhat shy painter, who feels somewhat left in the shadow of her Toreador Prince. She is somewhat petty and vindictive, and does not care who sees it. She is mostly unconcerned with Toronto politics, but can, when pushed, become quite ruthless, destroying anything in her path. The Toreador clan is quite ostentatious, and the Prince has had the most trouble with situations that might break the Masquerade coming from this clan. However, the arts community of Toronto has provided means for a number of convenient alibis. The Toreador, surprisingly, have considerable influence among the media, particularly the Globe and Mail, City TV, and CFNY radio station. 3.2.7 The Tremere Elder Glorianne - Survivor/Scholar - Tremere (primogen). Highly insecure, thus a predilection for the usage of dominate. Many allies in UofT high in charisma and intelligence. Thaumaturgy paths suggest weather manipulation. 8th generation only--wields her position on the primogen like a bludgeon when she wants something--thankfully its rare. Amber seems to regard her as a toy--to be usefully manipulated. Evidence pointed towards her being responsible for the death of Anne-Marie, a dancer Toreador, who died of sunlight exposure. 3.2.7.1 The Tremere Clan The Tremere joined the Toronto Camarilla in 1835, at the request of the Prince (then, James McDiarmuid). The Brujah Elder helped smuggle the Tremere Elder, Glorianne, from England, where she had been hiding. The British had made a ruling that all Tremere were to be exiled from London due to some ideas that they may have had something to do with the rise of the Black Plague. In Toronto, the Tremere are few in number. Glorianne and the others are very interested in keeping a low profile. Tensions tend to mount if any of the Tremere are in any sort of spotlight. Not only among the kindred who always suspect something of them, but also from the Magi, specifically the Order of Hermes. 3.2.8 The Ventrue Elder Hrolfgar - Judge/Architect - Ventrue (primogen). Intelligent. He was once a soldier, for "Stormwatch Ltd". He is somewhat volatile, but also very secretive. Possibly a consummate actor. He runs the Sanctuary Vampire Sex Club (Vampires pretending to be mortals, pretending to be vampires--how avant garde!) and is generally regarded as one of the best sources of kindred information available. But everything has its price. 3.2.8.1 The Ventrue Clan Since the very beginning, the Ventrue have been the driving force behind the Toronto Camarilla. Starting with James McDiarmuid, a scotsman who found himself just as stuck in the structure as a kindred as he did as a mortal. So he emigrated to Canada in the late 1700's. He aided in the settlement of Pictou, Nova Scotia, and worked his way inland until he had a dream of a wonderful future on the banks of lake Ontario. Now the Venture run a number of legitimate businesses in Toronto, including communications and software development firms. The Ventrue have a heavy amount of influence in the Toronto Stock Exchange, as well as Toronto Hydro. The Ventrue have either been the power on the throne or the power behind the throne since the Camarilla has been in Toronto. Their current elder is named Hrolfgar, a refugee from the American Civil War. He served as Prince from 1877-1880, when he turned the region over to Gregori's hand, and the Toreador clan. 3. Other Kindred in Toronto =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 3.1 The Assamite Clan Gregori knows of one Assamite and one Assamite trainee who reside in Toronto. They are under the protection (and protectors of) an older Ventrue, named Johnathon Renfield. They have sworn that no harm will fall on the kindred in TOronto for their actions, nor will their presence there be discovered. To this day, this word has been kept. 3.2 The Daughters of Cacophony The Daughters of Cacophony are not welcome in Toronto. If any present themselves, they are politely asked to leave the city, and it's outlying suburbs, and requested not to return. There are no known Daughters of Cacophony in Toronto. 3.3 The Giovanni Clan While the Giovanni are welcome in Toronto, if they play by the rules, they are strongly discouraged from seeking residence, or even vacation there. This includes everything from harsher judgements to arranged thefts. Most of the Toronto Camarilla (TC) do not like the idea of their presence. 3.4 The Ravnos Clan The Ravnos clan has shown a willingness to work within Camarilla rules, on an individual-by-individual basis. The TC takes a neutral stance on the Ravnos, welcoming those who wish to have the protection and recognition of the Prince and Primogen. There are four ravnos known to exist in Toronto. Only one has agreed to Camarilla guidelines. One allies himself with the Anarchs, while the other two reside with the Sabbat. 3.5 The Salubri Clan This clan is always welcome in Toronto. Gregori declared this in 1883, after being brought from the brink of final death by one. He is so convinced of their usefulness, that he used his veto power over the primogen to allow the Salubri to stay. Currently, there is no known Salubri in Toronto. However, there is a Salubri offshoot bloodline called "The Hermetics", who has one member residing in Toronto. 3.6 The Samedi Clan No Samedi has ever presented himself before the Prince of Toronto, so no ruling has been made as to their level of welcomings. The Tremere would voice great concerns over the presence of a Samedi in Toronto, and the Toreador would frenzy. Gregori is unaware of the existence of Gavin McDonnell, a 6th generation Samedi, who resides under the mt. Pleasant cemetary, waiting to reveal himself. Only three kindred know of his existence--Sebastian (Malkavian elder), Leanoard (Malkavian), and Anna Calanovich (Brujah Elder). Gavin waits for the Sabbat to attack, so he may either die or act for the camarilla to seek membership. 3.7 The Followers of Set The Settites are new to Toronto. There are two currently known to reside in Toronto, as of last year. They are working on establishing a Temple of Set as a means of helping people die. Gregori does not trust them, but they have not shown any signs of duplicity... yet. The Settites are secretly allied with the Sabbat and the gangrel Elder, Tam Lin to try to overthrow the Prince. 3.8 The Anarchs There are roughly 17 Kindred who claim to be Anarchs. There is an existing peace pact between the Anarchs and the Camarilla. The Anarchs are welcome to reside in Toronto, but must seek to maintain the masquerade. In the last 40 years, they have, more or less, done so. 3.9 The Sabbat There are believed to be between ten and thirty-five Sabbat in the Toronto area. They are not welcome in Toronto, and the Camarilla seeks to destroy the Sabbat whenever it can. Unfortunately, there is a stalemate, as the Sabbat in Quebec and the Sabbat in Detroit are able to constantly bring new faces into Toronto. Gregori does not know how the Sabbat has been able to know their actions before they make it, but he suspects there is a leak among the primogen. 3.10 Other Bloodlines known or thought to be in Toronto Other bloodlines, not strong enough to be called clans, are not granted voting privileges in the Camarilla.
