Predators by Dennis Payne and Kirpal Sukumar Introduction - by Dennis Payne I originally came out with the rules for predators in Werewolf in 1994. After posting them very little response came even though many rules were left vague. Kirpal updated the rules in October 1995. This is a combination of his emailed suggestions and many original post. I've tried to maintain his suggestions as he presented them. The current address I have for him is knsukmar@ucdavis.edu. Nature: Predator Demeanor: Predator Physical: Strength 5, Dexterity 4, Stamina 5 Social: Charisma 1, Manipulation 1, Appearance 0 Mental: Perception 3, Intelligence 4, Wits 4 Talents: Alertness 4, Athletics 3, Brawl 5, Dodge 3, Intimidation 4, Subterfuge 1 Skills: Firearms (Predator) 5, Melee 5, Stealth 3, Survival 3 [Kirpal suggests Melee 6, Stealth 4, and Survival 4] Knowledge: Area Knowledge 1, Medicine (Predator) 3 Rage 5, Willpower 6 Equipment: Chamelon Suit - Acts as Camouflage (Wendigo Level One Gift) except works anywhere and does not require Gnosis Knife Gauntlet - The right arm band "contains retractable double-edged knives created from a mysterious crystaline compound harder than diamonds." Roll Difficulty Damage # Actions Dex+Brawl 6 Strength+2 1 Telescoping Spear - A two-ended spear that springs to full length with a twist of the handle. Roll Difficulty Damage # Actions Dex+Melee 6 Strength+4 1 Laser Cannon - The cannon "fires intense energy bursts with pinpoint accuracy, laying waste to metal and flesh." The laser scope adds three dice to hit and appears as three red dots in a triangle. (Remember each extra success to hit adds one die of damage.) Difficulty Damage Rate Range 6 12 1 500 Sensors - They can adjust their sight to just about everything including thermograph, photonic emmision, possibly x-ray and magnetic resonance. Without technology they see infra-red. (Lower perception difficulties by 2-3 but must roll wits+perception to avoid being blinded by little things like thermite grenades and magnesium flares. Body Armor - 2 no dexterity penalty (armor tshirt type) Net Lancher - Damage 5-6(?), entrapment (+5 difficulty to movement rolls, all movement [except rolling unless bound to a stationary object]) Bladed-Disks - Maybe 10 damage dice the nasty effects are hard to judge, difficulty 14-user's MA(Predator) skill. Self-Destruct Device - [Kirpal made rules for this I've removed them in favor of everything in the area of effect is destroyed.] Medical kit - Allows the predator to heal up to 3 levels of aggravated damage given 10-15 minutes to gather materials (just about anything) and do some minor surgery...on itself. Kirpal's Notes I'd like to work up stats (and bonuses for predators as they gain rank (what they've hunted, and how difficult it was). I think that even being allowed to hunt humans should require a rank of about 3, considering that I'm working under the impression that the Predators hunt Aliens on a regular basis, and (from the book by Steve Perry) also that Predators regard humans as more dangerous than Aliens. I'd like to possible make this system playable...but have the predator start out with just about the same character creation stuff as a Werewolf. I think that the one you have above could be a template for a rank 2-3 predator. From various places, I've also gotten the impression that killing an Alien is a Predator's Rite of Passage, (Rank 1) and also that even being allowed to use an optical camouflage unit is not allowed before what I'd call Rank 2 (if we're sticking to the WW ranking system). And I'd like to try to have them develop their own martial art (kinda-sorta like the system for Kailindo), and have the use of the disc be based on it. A friend and I are working on this for a Cyberpunk game he's running, so most of the work might already be done. have to check with him on it. That and I think that the 1-5 ratings that WW uses are a bit too vague... so maybe it could be based on 7 (?), and have the predator starting with spear and knife gauntlet. Possibly have the net launcher be taught with skill rating 2(it isn't very complicated), disc available to predators with a skill rating of 5 or higher, so the absolute minimum difficulty for the disc is 7, and the maximum is 9 BEFORE adding in modifiers. As I said before...these things scare me...I'm not sure whether to make the damage aggravated or not. Maybe everything past the first 3 unsoaked levels or something. I thought that, if I'm going to use this as if it was the same as Kailindo, then it could probably be used the same way (instead of brawl).
