This exists to give GM's an idea of how much time passes between adventures, or how long a time exists to run an adventure in between stops. Note that the Impulse speed times below indicate elapsed time as it appears -outside- the ship. Time dilation effects are not very noticible within the Federations's self-imposed "speed limit" of one-quarter light equals full Impulse speed. Time dilation effects would become -much- more noticeable at speeds beyond one-quarter light. --------------------------------------------------------------- Mode 1 A.U. 1 L.Y. 1 Parsec -------------------------------------------------------- Full Thrusters ? ? ? 0.25 Impulse 49.92 mins. 16 yrs. 19.56 yrs. 0.50 Impulse 33.28 mins. 8 yrs. 13.04 yrs. 0.75 Impulse 24.96 mins. 6 yrs. 9.78 yrs. Full Impulse 16.64 mins. 4 yrs. 6.52 yrs. Warp 1 8.32 mins. 1 yr. 3.26 yrs. Warp 2 49.9 secs. 36.50 dys. 118.99 dys. Warp 3 12.79 secs. 9.36 dys. 30.51 dys. Warp 4 4.89 secs. 3.57 dys. 11.67 dys. Warp 5 2.33 secs. 1.70 dys. 5.56 dys. Warp 6 1.27 secs. 22.32 hrs. 3.03 dys. Warp 7 0.76 secs. 13.44 hrs. 1.81 dys. Warp 8 0.48 secs. 8.56 hrs. 27.89 hrs. Warp 9 0.32 secs. 5.78 hrs. 18.84 hrs. Warp 9.2 0.30 secs. 5.31 hrs. 17.31 hrs. Warp 9.6 0.26 secs. 4.59 hrs. 14.96 hrs. Warp 9.9 0.16 secs. 2.87 hrs. 9.35 hrs. Warp 9.99 0.06 secs. 1.11 hrs. 3.61 hrs. Warp 9.999 0.04 secs. Warp 9.9999 0.03 secs. 2.63 min. 8.59 min. Notes: Normal full Impulse power is one-quarter of the speed of light. Impulse engines -can- go faster than this, but the Speed is kept to 0.25 light speed to avoid the more serious time-dilation effects. Warp 1 is the speed of light. Warp 5 is currently the official "speed limit" for the galaxy, since it has been discovered that speeds in excess of Warp 5 can cause damage to the space-time continuum. Speeds in excess of Warp 5 are normally used only in emergencies. Warp 9.9999 is the maximum speed of sub-space radio, boosted by relay stations. ===============================================================
