Darius Trant was a weaponsmith in Alant when he received the calling to Pelor's service. Pelor is worshipped well in the city, and when Darius entered the immense church he was overwhelmed with the grand entryway he emerged into. He spoke with a kindly priest by the name of Faethlun, and began to learn about Pelor's stories and how he has helped the world become the world that it is. Faethlun asked him if he would enter into the service, and Darius accepted. Faethlun recognized however, that Darius was still unsure of himself, so he suggested he emback on a pilgramage. Faethlun told him about the missing Sun of Pelor - an artefact from a time long past that Pelor himself had once held. Pelor's sun was the primary instrument with which Pelor defeated the undead armies of Nerull back at the dawning of the world. Faethlun introduced Darius to once of his students, a young elven woman by the name of Lia Amastacia, who was about to embark on her own quest of exploration. Faethlun thought the two together could help teach eachother the ways of Pelor, and perhaps even find the Sun of Pelor. While preparing for his quest, Iberan came to ask Darius a favor. Iberan had heard about his friend's quest, and asked if he could come along, to document the history in the making. Iberan's desire was to document that which had never been documented correctly before. Figuring that this quest could come to a fruitful end, he was intrigued and desired to accompany Darius. Darius accepted his offer, and so Iberan joined on. Angus Wandersvelt was newly arrived in Alant from Eastpost. The scandal of his parent's imprisonment still fresh in his mind, he was seeking a home while searching out the solutions to his parents' incarceration. Although Angus means well, his mind sometimes forgets himself, and that has caused problems here and there. While he doesn't recognize his connection or involvement in his parents' case, he ultimately feels there is something wrong and his one desire is to make that wrong right. Angus was told to seek out Darius, who regretted the timing, but eventually agreed to watch over him. Angus was excited about seeing new places, but did not understand Darius's devotion to Pelor. Angus just didn't believe. Veit was just leaving his home in the caves where Clan Torkrest has established itself when he came across a young human barely staying alive against a couple of orcs who thought he would be easy prey for robbing. Veit helped the young man out by casting a well placed ray of frost at one of the orcs. They introduced themselves when the battle was finished, and agreed to stick together until they found better company. The young man, Galen, was seeking out a new home - his last having been destroyed in the recent restructured government in the Lands of the Cyrean Lords. Galen and Veit made their way through the mountains, emerging at the point where the Angian river comes out of the mountains. Galen and Veit followed the river, and made acquaintance with another traveler. This traveler introduced himself as Aramil Siannodel, a half-elven man who was wandering the lands in search both for knowledge and for the truth behind the truths he had been told. Although Galen and Veit thought he was a strange fellow, they invited him along, for they did not know where they themselves were headed, and figured a group would prove more resourceful than several individuals. The trio continued following the river until the massive city of Alant came into view. Aramil wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle, but Galen and Veit saw new adventures there, and wanted to see what Alant would hold. Although Aramil would have rather avoid the whole city, he found a strange comfort in traveling with these others, and decided a short sojourn into this city would not prove harmful - at the very least, he could refill his pack with some fresh food. Maybe he could even find a good watering hole for the duration. Galen and Aramil took to eachother very well. Their interests lying in common grounds, they always found things to talk about and conversation was almost ceaseless between them. It was during one of these conversations that Jenkins and 'Slim' emerged from the din of the tavern, slamming two frothy mugs of ale on the table. The slightly inebriated halfling and drunk human introduced themselves. Jenkins told them that he would be absolutely honored if these two fine warriors of significant stature and fame would allow him to follow them around and tell their tales of adventure. While 'Slim' didn't see much interest in recording song or poetry, he was interested in traveling, especially if it kept him away from the oppressions of the Arakian Empire. 'Slim' had met up with Jenkins when he washed ashore on the Ganthesian coast. 'Slim' had run from the fighting in Sorenz when Arak decided it would be a fitting addition to the empire. 'Slim' harbors some strong opinions about the empire's intentions, and has vowed to enact revenge in what way he can, sometime in the future. In the mean while, 'Slim' is working on regaining what he lost in Sorenz, both a reputation for being a great swordsman and the money to back such a reputation. Although Galen didn't know what to make of this short and happy fellow, Aramil smiled and put his arm around Jenkins's shoulder. Of course he could come along and sing their tales, just as long as he didn't get in the way. The three of them took their mugs and clinked them together to seal the deal, and then the ale disappeared down their throats. Once they were finished drinking, they emerged from the tavern, expecting to find adventures thrown upon them and all they saw was the night sky. Veit approached the tavern, followed by four others, and greeted Galen and Aramil. Veit introduced the rest of the company, but was lost for words when he found the halfling bringing drinks to the table and the silent 'Slim' as well. Veit explained that while he was wandering the city he came across Darius, Lia, Iberan and Angus all preparing for their quest. When Veit told them he wished to follow as well, Darius and Lia looked at each other, weighing possibilities upon possibilities, and ultimately agreed. Veit invited them along to the tavern to meet his own companions, and there they found themselves. Looking over each other, you realize that for the most part in the span of a day, some forces have brought you all together. While Darius and Iberan seem to have known each other for a while, the rest have come here only to find new faces. While the thought of being with so many strangers was not really something you wanted, each of you sigh in relief as you realize that no matter where you go, someone will be with you. And now, as you are about to set out for the first time, all together, you hear a voice in the back of your mind pipe in, "So where to now?" And then you realize that the voice was not your own, even though it expressed your own thoughts, but rather the voice of the somewhat drunk halfling strumming a small mandolin while sitting on the table you all sit at.
