Shaten Overview: The relatively prosperous country of Shaten doesn't receive much attention from its neighboring countries. The river trade has sprung up lush fields of green and fish has never been a more widely eaten food. Mostly, Shaten is fairly independant of the government, which is a loose monarchy. The farmers, fishermen, and ranchers make up the significant populace. Shaten has never been known to go to war, despite its rich land. The closest Shaten has to a capitol city - if one would really stretch to call it a city - is Forisson. This river town makes the most of its trade just like the rest of the fishing villages along the rivers - by fish. Although the rivers are heavily fished, it would never be said that the rivers are crowded or congested. There is room enough for all. Government: Monarchy. King Ulden has ruled for the last ten years, but like his predecessors, he has very little power among his people. King Ulden is more a symbol of stature that of majestic power. Population: It is difficult to estimate the population of the sprawling villages and hermitages that make up Shaten. About 75,000 people live in or around Forisson, but the next largest town has about 15,000. The population ranges greatly, with humans taking up the greater portion of the pool. About 40% of the population is evenly divided among the other common races. Armed Forces: There is no known armed forces for Shaten.
