<title>Coloring Fantasy Covers</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>While drawing my 100 images based on Dragon magazine covers, I really enjoyed coloring the images. I wondered about making a coloring book out of the images.</p><p>There are numerous videos on how to make and sell coloring books on KDP. Often they suggested that passive income with coloring books was easy. They talked about finding a niche and how to market the coloring book. Many suggested using clipart or AI to create images. <title>Tiny Supers: Primal Slime</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I loved the TinyD6 system and have bought many of the books. In general I purchased digital RPG products. For TinyD6 I have a few physical copies, Tiny Frontiers Revised, Tiny Thunderscape, and Tiny Supers. I ran Tiny Frontiers Revised a few times but no other TinyD6 game. A game started up on rpg.net and I joined after another player had to drop.</p><p>Thousands of superheroes populated the pages of comics so unique concepts are hard to find. The heroes in the game were supposed to be second string heroes called up when the big superhero team goes missing. There aren't a lot of powers in the book but often powers are different kinds of blasts anyway. Looking through the powers I settled on Summoning and Shapeshifting (Stretching). I considered Damage Field from the GallentVerse Capaign Guide but wasn't sure the if the gamemaster would allow that book.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<title>Open Game Source: Fracturoid</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Breakout/Arkanoid games are not a genre I particularly like. I was asked about putting one on an arcade machine. There are numerous clones of those games. A great resource for open source clones is osgameclones.com. The Arkanoid clones included a javascript version and a python game designed with a circular playing field. Breakout clones include LBreakoutHD which is more of an Arkanoid clone but I didn't look at those clones.</p>]]></content:encoded>

Defend humanity against the alien threat!</p><p>Brick Exoframe is a game about power armor. It is designed to be played with popular brick building toys. You can shoot off components from enemies and attach them to yourself. In addition to the rules for the game, there is simple power armor design instructions so you can build your own characters. <title>Open Game Source: Fight or Perish</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Fight or Perish was a Gauntlet clone I found on osgameclones.com. I downloaded it almost two years ago but never got around to checking it out. It was created by Bill Kendrick at New Breed Software. He had a bunch of game project that I'd love to play with. His game Bobobot was the subject of the first Open Game Source article. <title>Brick Monsters: Phantom Fungus</title>

They were created as a low level invisible creature in 3rd edition. Two builds are included as usual. The builds are very different. Even if you don't have all the pieces, the instructions might inspire you to create something with the bricks you own. <title>Open Game Source: Lady Beetle</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Lady Bug released to arcades in 1981. It was a maze chase game like Pac-Man but with movable turnstiles to allow you to alter the maze. I was never much of an arcade player. I didn't see the reason to keep paying to play a game when you could get a game on a console and play forever. So I never experienced it but a remake for the Love engine caught my attention.</p><p>Bernhard Mueller used some work from Cosimo's earlier attempt to recreate the game in Love. The code was very clean and successfully recreated the arcade. I found it odd that the player gets blocked if they are slightly off when taking a turn. That was apparently in the original as well but based on videos I found either it didn't happen as often or the player was better at the game than me.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<title>Postmortem: Goblins: Rise of Gurg</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After my successful entry to the Seven Day Roguelike Challenge, I found out about the Dungeon Crawlers Jam. The original Bard's Tale series was a favorite of mine. I even set about recreating the Bard's Tale Construction Set in open source. The construction set wasn't very good and I slowly added features to make it more Bard's Tale like. The Bt Builder engine still lacked a complete example game so perhaps this would provide the push to create one.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<title>Open Game Source: Inertia Blast</title>

When I first installed Linux I stumbled on a remake of Thrust. It was brutally difficult but I enjoyed the game. <title>Pixel Critters</title>

<title>Open Game Source: Pinball Disc Room</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As part of the Disc Room Game Jam, JW released a tutorial on creating a simple Disc Room. To learn more about Godot, I recreated the game. The movement of the player was a little different but otherwise the game was about the same.</p><p>During the tutorial, JW explained that the safest area in the room were the corners. To prevent the player from hiding out in the corner, a disc rotated around the walls of the room. I pondered other ways to prevent the players from being in the corners. A tentacle creature which would push you back into the room was considered but I settled on a pinball theme with flippers.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<title>Open Game Source: Marvellous Inc.</title>

<title>Open Game Source: Alchemy Quest / Open Alchemist</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I had never heard of Open Alchemist when I was approached to join a project to make modifications to it. The game itself wasn't something I would normally play. The closest game I had played for any significant time was Puzzle Quest. Self imposed deadlines for other project would be negatively impacted. <title>Open Game Source: Arcade Machine</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>My son's cub scout den built an arcade machine. The internals were an old computer. The television for graphics and sound were donated. The machine was shown off at the Blue and Gold dinner and we intended to use it for recruiting.</p><p>Given that we wanted two player simultaneous games. That way we can have more people actively playing than a solo game. Ideally the game should allow someone else to jump in when someone dies so we don't have to wait for the other player to die. As a community service organization, we wanted cooperative games if possible and open source. Everything needed to be controlled by keyboard keys as that is what the X-Arcade controls pretended to be.</p>]]></content:encoded>
