ORC TRIBES OF OS

Author's Note:  After reading a description of some orc tribes someone had
developed for their game, I thought that one of the names sounded like an
operating system name.  So I developed a list of orc tribes based on
operating systems.


LINUX:  Chaos reigns supreme in the Linux tribe.  Many factions exist within
the tribe.  They worship a large collection of gods.  Amazingly they have
managed to avoid warring with each other.  The group is held together by
survival needs.  Without cooperation the small factions would likely be
killed by the other orc tribes.  Recently tensions have increased as the
worshipers of Ggi seems to be intent on controlling the direction of the
tribe.

HURD:  The orcs of Hurd are relatively small in numbers.  They claim to
be as free as the Linux tribe, but are secretly ruled by the orc leader
Stallman.  The Hurd tribe has helped the Linux tribe in the past but
recently has declared war the orcs of Linux.  Most of the tribes do not
consider the Hurd tribe to be a threat at present.

BSD:  Political turmoil has been ripping through the Bsd tribe.  Originally,
the theocracy of Bsd covered much of the western lands only the Att tribe
caused any resistance.  With the destruction of the Att tribe, the Bsd tribe
fragmented into several groups.  Each group claims the others to be heretics.
As a result the tribe has lost much of their former land and glory.

AIX:  The Aix tribe is the most organized of the orc tribes of Os.  They
have rituals and laws governing every aspect of life.  To the point that
to accomplish anything you have to break several of the laws.  They can
be recognized by their blue face paint.

IRIX:  The Irix tribe is known for their sculptures and architecture.
Although the tribe is rather unoriginal in most respects, they produce
spectacular artwork.

HPUX:

SOLARIS:  Although originally a splitter group of Bsd, the Solaris tribe
has recently lost their old leader.  The new leader has slowly introduced
new rules that more closely resemble the fallen Att tribe.  While the
tribe is still large it has fallen upon difficult times and has slowly been
losing territory.

DOS:  The primitive tribe of Dos is the lowest of orc culture.  They are
commanded are the illusionist Gates.  By use of his magic, Gates has made
the orcs of Dos believe they are as advanced as the other tribes.  Gates,
however, is endlessly copying from the other tribes.  Only recently has he
learned the value of trade routes and set the orcs to work on roads.
The religion of Nt has been extremely enticing and has lured many orcs to
the Dos tribe.

RHAPSODY:  The religion of Nt is actually a modification of the worship
of Gui practiced by the orcs of Rhapsody.  Unlike the Dos tribe, in order
to join the tribe you must pass a rigorous ritual.  Because of the
difficulties to join the Rhapsody tribe its growth was much slower than
Dos.  Recently many orcs have abandoned the tribe of rhapsody in favor of
the promises of Gates.
